Hi Alex,

You are very welcome. I am fairly new to this myself and have had a lot of help from other people too. Here are a few sites that might interest you including the site with the 1851 census of Dumfries & Galloway

http://www2.dumgal.gov.uk/services/depts/comres/library/census_search.asp#se

http://freepages.history.rootsweb.com/~leighann/index.html

I have a few ancestors from Wigtown too and only recently found a Janet McCulloch b circa 1780. Not sure if she will be related in any way.
Good luck
Regards
Amanda

Alex

I've only just found this site and noticed that you have posted info about Thomas & Martha McCulloch.  I also have them in my tree. Do you know if Martha Mc Ewan was married previously to a Charles Milroy?  I'm having real problems trying to find any information.  My Gt  Grandmother Mary McCubbin's mother is shown as Jane Milroy (father Charles Milroy) on her birth certificate but McCulloch on her marriage certificate.  As far as I am aware Martha went on to marry Thomas McCulloch.

Hope this makes sense.Any help would be appreciated.

Regards

Fiona Cameron

G'day, Not sure if you'd be still on this list but here goes. My ggg grandparents John McCulloch(abt1789-10/3/1870) & Margaret McMillan(27/4/1797-aft1871) married in June 1815. They had 13 children of which the Thomas youmention was the 1st. My gg grandfather was their 7th born John (28/6/1828-5/4/1866) he married Margaret Millar (17/10/1833-27/9/1911) on 9/1/1853. They had 7 children with my g Grandfather being the 6th. Robert William McC (3/2/1863-20/6/1927). His 2nd wife was Mary Howard Heath. My particular block is the original John, the 1841/51 census' have him born in Ireland, a black hole for reasearching! Did you manage any finds with him? I'd also be interested in any info swap re Thomas & the rest of the family. regards Rob Williams in OZ.
