William Clark Bear (AKA Bill/Billy)
« on: Thursday 12 August 10 20:38 BST (UK) »
He is my father, he was an American GI stationed at Burtonwood 1948.  He had been in Burma in WW11 from 1942 -45. He came from Maher, colorado USA.  I have met all the family and I have several siblings in the States, also one in Scotland born 6 months after me.  He received a purple heart from his enlistment in 42-45.  I think his job during that time was making the roads through.  He also lost a finger.

Arrangements to marry my mother were made for april 1949 in ~Withington Manchester, Lancashire, but he left her and was posted to Marham, Kings Lynn, Norfolk where he met a Helen Wilson.  Hids buddy was called Johnny.  He was dishonourably discharged in 1950 and returned to the States.  He was also stationed in the States, California, Texas etc

He settled in Alaska and died in Woodburn Oregon in 1998. Does this name/account mean anything to anyone?
