1841/51/61 Census

Hi All,
Does anyone have access to any of these censuses? I am looking for Ann Wallace living in Fraserburgh born apx 1801 in Tyrie.
On the 1841 she should be with her husband William (a cooper) and daughter Christian (born 1827).
I have her on th 1871 & 81 censuses as a widow but don't know when William died.

Hi Ange,
I did find an Ann Wallace the right age in the 1841 c at Fraserburgh, with an Elizabeth.

Would have to find it again.

I have found the christening of a Christian Wallace 16/5/1827 Fraserburgh father william wallace and mother Ann Morrison .
also the only other child I could find with these parents was
William Wallace born 16/5/1824 Rosemary St Church Belfast Antrim Ireland.
maybe father was a soldier.
I looked for military births for wallace and found none suitable.
Have you found the death of Ann after 1881. or any other certificate to give more info?

It would be wonderful if you could find the entry on the 1841 again
I have the christening of Christian in 1827 but no other children. I have Anns death in 1884 at Fraserburgh age 83 witnessed by Sarah Sheves her granddaughter.
as for Williams occupation, on Anns death cert he was a Cooper, so I have no idea why the would be in Ireland.
I have Ann on the 1871 & 81 censuses but she's alone on both and I ran out of credit on Scotlands people before I could find Williams death

As far as the thought of William being a soldier, it is quite possible, a lot of men join up, even for a short time, and get shipped all over the place,and take their wives with them, and then get discharged, and return to their old trade, [I must say though, I am surprised that it dosn't mention this]  but if he did retire a healthy man, he wouldn't get a pension, so the family may have forgotten his short stint in the army.

If this is your Ann in the census, then, maybe William has already died. If Elizabeth is her daughter, then she may be illegitimate. This all hypothetical.....

I did find 2 Christian Wallaces working in Tyrie, as possibles.

Hi Kenjo,
Thanks so much for the information, it's very interesting that she has an Barbra Gilles living with her as her mother was Barbara Gill. But then why would she go back to her maiden name?
I'll have to get more credits and see if I can find the birth of Elizabeth and the death of William.

Coopers followed the fishing fleets. They made the barrels that where used to pack the fish. Sarah Sheves might be one of mine. I'll need to take a look at the censuses.
