Watts family of Battersea
« on: Monday 16 August 10 10:48 BST (UK) »
I started looking for my paternal grandfather Maurice John Brett on Roots Chat back in 2007. past information here-http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,315556.0.html

I think the family he and his mother were living with on the 1881 census at 14 Rollo Street Battersea, are his sister Mary Ann Brett-Stansfied Suffolk and her husband Barnard Watts-Boxton-Suffolk plus their children. Whilst I know Hannah Brett (mother of Maurice and Mary died two years later, I cannot find the Watts family and Maurice disappears until the 1911 census and he is living in New Haw Adlington Surrey. I am unsure where to begin looking for them. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Sue, thank you so much for your help, I should have considered that maybe the head of the family might have died and done my search using another name
. It has given me quite a lift as to date I had not found any recent family members. Interestingly, Maurice is living with one Herbert Groom and his wife on the 1911 census. I checked back on an earlier census and found that Herbert's wife Louisa is recorded as a visitor and her surname is Brett. Once again she comes from Suffolk, this time Bury St Edmunds. Who knows maybe another Family member.

Hi Linda thank you. Maurice was a Caddie Master-sounds very grand but I know nothing about Golf. However I looked up New Haw and tried to decide which golf course it would have been, my thinking being that they may have kept records.
