Thanks for all this guys! I suppose the only way to see if Frederick Frank and John Frederick are the same person is to take a trip to the record office or order the birth certificate, I just wish I could find them in an earlier census! lol
FreeBMD has been throwing up some weird spellings (Klingsiek) but I can find no death of William or Charlotte, I wonder if they made a trip to Germany since that is where he claimed to be born?
Back to trawl the census now I have a few more names to throw in, thanks again guys!

Could this be William Klinsicks father or brother perhaps in the Alien Arrivals - Christian Klincksieck arriving in Dover on the 18th May 1844, Nationality is German.

Also this

Christien Klincsieck and wife, arriving in Dover on the 24th March 1851, Nationality is German.

According to the marriage certificate Ian was looking at, William's father was indeed Christian! The other Christian could be a brother? Are these records up on Ancestry or Findmypast?
Thank you, I feel I am finally getting somewhere now!

Hi

I have found a Christian E E Klinckseen and wife Charlotte E (he is a Merchant) in 1861 born Germany 1816 but that is the nearest I have come to finding anything like.

They could have changed their name for more a English sounding one but I cannot even see a William and Charlotte that looks likely.

Charlotte Klisick (sic), widow, d Abraham Golding m Frank Carl in 1868.

It would be worth looking in the censuses under Carl + variants.

Well thats a breakthrough, only thing I can find is a Charlotte Carl aged 62 dying in 1901 in Tower Hamlets.  The name says something like Carl (or Curl?). I cannot read it properly

Probably the Charlotte CARL, wid, 59 b Whitechapel, who is a patient in MEOT Infirmary in the 1901 census: RG13/338/121/21.

If this is the right Charlotte she's lost a few years from her age - from b abt 1832 (1861 census) to b abt 1841 (1901 census).  The Whitechapel birthplace matches, though.

Yes I saw the 1901 but I cannot find her in earlier census.  I think Frank Carls occupation on the marriage certificate says Seaman so I guess he could have been elsewhere at census time.
