The Marriage actually took place 01 November 1841, Slindon, Sussex, which is different from your original date 1/1/1841 (Souce IGI Extracted) which means the Marriage cert is available to purchase;

On the same page is Henry RICHARDS

I would not take it for granted that Alexander and Elizabeth are Henrys Parents and could be his Grandparents.

That is great - thank you for the detective work  re the Bircher connection. I am a bit stuck in identifying any connection between Alexander Richards born around 1760 and the other Richards families that appear in the west Sussex county areas. He appears to have arrived out of thin air.

HENRY Richards, 24 July 1814

Marriage;
Alexander RICHARDS
Elizabeth MITTEN or MILTON, 12 June 1807, Boxgrove, Sussex
(as this was when Alex was abt 40+ and Eliz abt 37 they both may have been married before)

Could Alexander have come from Singleton?
Possible Christening;
ALEXANDR Richards, 30 October 1763 to HENRY and ANN
(another entry has 30 October 1762)
They then seem to have Christened Children at Singleton, Sussex;
ANN, 04 October 1764
MARY, 29 May 1768
JOHN, 03 February 1771

There is a Marriage of Henry RICHARDS and Ann BANKS, 15 April 1762,
Westhampnett, Sussex .
( Ann may have been from there as Brides usually married in their own Parish)
