Many thanks to "Tricia" and "Casalguidi". It might also help in the correspondence if you knew my real name-Matthew. No my middle name is not Parsons nor was I named after Matthew Parsons. I live in the US now but when I lived in England a friend took me to Somerset House where we found the will of Matthew Parsons Houghton.
This is what we gleened from the will
Matthew Parsons Houghton
His personal estate was worth 422 pounds 13 shillings and 7 pence.
He left 1,485 pounds 4 shillings and 4 pence.
Address: 17 Blakesley Avenue, Ealing
He was formerly of Webley near Herefordshire ( there is no Webley but there is a Madley near Herefordshire)
Late of Radford House Coventry Warwickshire, Gentleman
Proved at Birmingham by A.H. ( Anne Houghton) of Radford House, Widow.
I believe I have already given the names of Matthew Parsons brothers and sister, his wife and his children in my earlier memo.
There is a family legend that Matthew Parsons was a descendent of the Blessed John Houghton who was one of the Forty Martyrs canonised by the Catholic church for refusing to sign King Henry VIII's Act of Supremacy making Henry head of the Church of England. He was hanged at Tyburn 4 May 1535.
How can I possibly prove or disprove this seeing as there is only a mere 300 years of history missing.
Matthew

As a post script to my earlier message.
Tricia, where was Matthew Parsons when he was in the US? How/where did you find he had gone the US?
Casalguidi,
Tell me how you found out about his ordination as deacon?
From the way he criss crossed the country in his lifetime he must have been a man a some standing. He comes across a s someone who might have been independently weathly.
Was 1, 485 pounds considered a sizeable some of money when he died in 1884.

Hi Matthew

The ordination was from a list published in "The Times" newspaper Friday 26 Dec 1845.

Also at the Convent, Loughborough - same as Ruth - (which may be significant):

1871

Ellen HOUGHTON assistant unm 24 English mistress b.Aston Warwickshire

RG10/3254 folio 25 page 34

Best wishes

Casalguidi

Hi, Matthew,

The American connection comes from the 1871 census (details given above  by both Casalguidi and myself) which states that he had a son (name unreadable) aged 2 in 1871 who was born in New York. Therefore he was in America 1869/70ish. Ada may well have been left behind for some reason - relatives, friends, church schooling .
Very interesting family, though. Have no idea if you can locate him in New York in the late 1860's anyway. Might not be impossible as he seemed to be quite an important person. :)

Well in the last ten months I've been working hard on the rest of my family history which I have now completed.
I want to thank everyone again who contributed to the discussion of Ada Mary Houghton's family last year and particularly to Tricia who contributed the picture which may be Ruth . May I ask a favor? Could you send picture to my personal e-mail address which is ? I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.
 :)
