Hi Keith
Me again
Been looking on Findmypast & there is an 1809 marriage for a John Pendrill in Somerset. There is also an 1809 marriage for an Anne Penny in Somerset. Might not be the right John but 1809 does fit nicely in the timeframe if the Henry who died in 1810 was their child. Unfortunately I don't have any credits for FindMyPast to look at the details.

Maudarby,
That all looks very relevant indeed.  Thnaks so much for digging those up for me.
So, I wonder when exactly Margaret PENDRILL (nee ROSS) died prior to 1809...?
I'm sure Findmypast will throw up John PENDRILL marrying Ann PENNY in 1809, then.
I may well download Ann PENDRILL's will of 1845 from TNA website, it might contain more clues...
Very many thanks, keith

Have you come across FreeREG  http://www.freereg.org.uk/cgi/Search.pl

Enter surname Pendrill, choose Marriages and Somerset and leave the rest blank. You'll find the marriages of John Pendrill and several female Pendrills. Unfortunately switching to burials doesn't show Margaret.

Hi
That's brilliant David. I spent hours yesterday looking through FreeREG but never thought to look for John's second marriage on there.
I was mainly concentrating on Glamorgan & Gloucestershire.

Thanks for that, Nameless,
I'll have a look myself and see whether it's significant...

Hello Keith'
I have just noticed your messages in August 2010 regarding Dr. John Pendrill. His date of birth was 1761, possibly Gloucestershire. His father was Thomas Pendrill born about 1722, and grandfather was Thomas Pendrill born about  1690, and known as Thomas of Ruardean, Gloucestershire.   John died in 1827 in Bath, Somerset, and his first wife Margaret Ross Campbell died 1801 in Bristol, Somerset.  I've not found a marriage as yet for John and Ann Penny. Dr John is descended from John Pendrill of Boscobel, one of the sons who helped Charles 11 in his escape after the Battle of Worcester.
My mother was a Pendrill descended from William the Waterman who is believed to come from Edward the Soldier's line.
There was a Pendrill Family History Society, but it has now closed. I have copies of the magazines that were issued if they would be of interest to you.
