Is there any possibility of re-scanning to a higher resolution?

well now your asking lol i only just learn to scan picture to  fit the site 

 so by resolution you mean ? so i can look at the scanning  program and see if i can

By resolution I mean can you make the picture larger. By this scan with more dpi say 300.
I have been trying to work out the lettering for myself but it becomes pixilated the larger I make the original.

I have just been onto my navy forum to confirm my thoughts.
During the second world war when on board a ship the only cap tallies used were, H.M.S.  H.M. Destroyers and H.M. Cruisers etc.

There for I wont be able to  find the ships full name ? making it impossible to   look for  someone called ? kelly
