Stuck on Wheelers from Bermondsey
« on: Wednesday 18 August 10 16:49 BST (UK) »
Trying to trace father in law's paternal side and hitting a little wall. Have got the marriage cert of his grandfather THOMAS WILLIAM WHEELER from 7th May 1916 to ELLENER ELIZABETH HUBERT in Bermondsey. His father is listed as Richard Wheeler from the Army Service Corps. I was expecting to find Richard with young son Thomas on the 1901 census but am having difficulty finding them. Any ideas? I don't have much more info, but think they were Bermondsey locals.

How old is Thomas in 1916 (dont say 'of full age'   ;) )

This site suggests a DoB of 1896 - but no PoB available - of course it may not be him 5 years earlier than the Bermondsey marriage.

seems to match this man.

Thanks for the quick reply Mort - this looks like him - he is listed as 21 years old on the 1916 marriage certificate so 1895/6 would be about right. I don't have access to that site unfortunately.

that link is just an open search resource - if you click on a link shown you will be invited to subscribe, but the basic info is all thats needed.

The Father's name could be a mistake on someones part, or the whole family could be mistranscribed or missing. Thomas' baptism doesnt seem to be on the LMA site.

I think you might have to get that Birth Cert  :(
