Hi AJ
Rapid response ! - got the pics thanks so much . Brings a tear to your eye when you actually see the headstones - another one died for our country - so young and leaving a young boy without his father.
Once again thanks for all your hard work i really do appreciate it and its helping my file come to life .

Hi there,

'PM' means 'personal message' which enables you to contact other users off forum.

The views are great from the Cemetery.  There is talk that Boston Castle (a folly) will be restored - that would enable even better views to be gained.  I think during the Civil War, the view from the top of the hill gave advance warning for when soldiers where marching on Rotherham...or something like that. lol

Best Wishes,

Craig

Hi Craig

thanks for the response about PM.

Just looked at your views from Boston Castle, we were ther last weekend looking at the same views.

Interesting to see the Rank Hovis mill photograph. My husband worked there for 29 years until it closed in 2008. It stopped producing flour in September and finally closed in December with the exception of a distribution warehouse which has since closed down.

Incidentially a Bob Mollekin worked in the engineering department at the mill some years ago. Any relation?

Pleased that the photographs from Masborough were well received by bellababy.

AJ

Hi AJ,

It was a shame when the Rank Hovis site closed down.  Despite there being milling in the town for hundreds of years, it seemed to close without much fuss from anybody or at least not much was featured in the local papers anyway (just a little piece in the Rotherham Advertiser).  I was once told that the site in Rotherham was the only location in England capable of producing whole grain flour.  But I guess you'll know all about this much better than I.

Yes, Bob is a third cousin.  We have met once.

Best Wishes,

Craig

Hi bellababy,

found both Ralph (d22.11.39) and Alberta (d12.7.43) in same grave as Mary Hannah. Ralph was a newsagent when he died aged 72 at No11 Holland Street. Alberta was living at 10 Chemist Lane and was 38 when she died. Occupation listed as wife.

Burial number for Ralph is 14715. burial number for alberta is 15618.

Also at 11 Holland street was  Federick Geeson who died aged 52 on 29.139. He was also a newsagent.

Burial information can be found for most of England on the National Burial Index which can be accessed at most archives. not available on the internet.

If there is anything else that I can help you research, please let me know. I get a buzz from getting results.

Best wishes
AJ

Hi,

A word of caution though - the NBI's coverage isn't very comprehensive but coverage can be checked.  I believe the NBI data can be viewed on www.findmypast.com although a subscription would be required.

Best Wishes,

Craig
