Obituaries indexed from 1955 in the Edmonton Journal.  Gordon's is found in the Oct 27, 1958 edition.  Unfortunately it seems that you have to then go to the library to access the microfilm.

If you want to pay a few dollars (I used the site last year and it cost $5.00/obituary) there is this site

She doesn't seem to have 1952 indexed on her site but from JJ's cemetery source you know that Claudia's obituary would have been in the newspaper around the 19 Oct 1952.

The obituaries might answer your marriage question and also which newspaper she worked for although if you go the route of having someone dig up the obituaries they could probably also find the newspaper her column was in - perhaps even a column?

Thank you for the info, however my Ruth was born in 1906 in Indiana.

The record does not give a place of birth only the place of death. Ruth lived in Illinois from as early as the 1910 Census. So unless you have the actual birth date it is still an option
