Holyhead - Catholic Churches
« on: Friday 20 August 10 00:10 BST (UK) »
My great grandparents lived in Holyhead for a few years before returning home to Dublin. They had two sons born in 1905 & 1906. Would anyone know what Catholic church(es) they could have been baptised in? Thanks.

Hello Brian
It would probably be the Catholic Church of St Mary Help of Christians

Here's a link with a pic:

This is a picture of the church built in the 1960's, the old St Mary's was on the same site but more forward on the high street.

There is a site Holyhead.com which has an archive of old Photos of local churches you will probably find the original church on there, it had steps on the front going up both sides. Good luck

I believe there was only one Catholic church in Holyhead which was situated at the bottom of Market Street and called St Marys, You might  get help from Anglesey Archives via the Anglesey County Council website or the local priest at his home at Longford road
