Brambleburn Farm, Grange, Banffshire
« on: Saturday 21 August 10 21:01 BST (UK) »
Brambleburn farm in Grange was the home of my Morrison ancestors but unfortunately a year or so ago when my cousin went to visit he was disappointed, to say the least, that it had been demolished not long before.  Now we wish so much we had gone to visit before and been able to take a photo.   This is a bit of a long shot but thought I would try on here anyway to see if any locals to the area or other descendants of past residents  would just happen to have a photograph of Brambleburn!   Any help would be much appreciated.

Many thanks to all in advance.

Karen

Hi - my husbands grandfather had the farm for some years and we can get an aeriel photo of the farm.  Also if you have any information about the owners after your ancestors it would be much appreciated.  I am trying to source information about my husbands paternal line. The surname is Christie.  Many thanks. :) Michelle

Hi Michelle

I know that the Morrisons farmed at Brambleburn, Grange up until at least the 1911 Census but have no knowledge of after that.  Perhaps the Christie's and Morrisons were related, would like to delve more into that.  Would be great to see the aerial photo of it.  I will pm you my email address.

Many thanks.

Karen

At the other end of the timescale, my grandparents, George Bruce and Margaret Allan, lived there in 1713.

Interesting, I have Allan ancestors on my tree also.  Some of my Morrisons married Allans.  Have not come across Bruce as yet.

There are several families of Allans in Grange in the late 17th and 18th centuries. My branch were mostly blacksmiths.

Bit of a long shot, but there's mention on the web of Brambleburn being up for sale in 2006.  It was being sold by the Aberdeen Solicitors Property Centre.  They may have some photos perhaps?

Thanks for your reply. Yes the farm was sold a few years back and then demolished and a new house built in its place, sadly.  I can check back and see if the sales particulars are still on line with photos or contact the PC.  thank you so much.
