Anyone lost William JONES born Galton?
« on: Saturday 21 August 10 22:11 BST (UK) »
While trying to find my own missing William JONES I found the following in the Pay & Muster Rolls for the 23rd Fusiliers in the Crimea:

No. 4748 Private William JONES
Place of birth - Galton
Trade when enlisted - Excupator (sic)
Date of enlistment - 16th January 1855
Killed - 8th September 1855, Crimea
Credited in this pay list - £1 9s
Next of Kin - Sister Elizabeth ROGERS of Cleeve ? parish, Somerset

I couldn't make out the rest of Cleeve parish.   It looked something like W or N Buslor.   Maybe someone local might know what it's meant to be.

8th September 1855 was the date of the final attack on the Redan at Sebastopol

Edit:   Sorry, I forgot to give the National Archives reference.   It's WO 12/4013
