'Biddle' family of Wednesbury
« on: Sunday 22 August 10 17:19 BST (UK) »
Does any-one know anything of the 'Biddle' family from the Wednesbury area for the years about 1830 - 1860?  My ancestor was Mary Biddle - she was born about 1837/1838 and married William Northall in 1859 (West Bromwich reg. area).
I have looked on the census for 1841 and think that I have found her with  parents (Thomas & Martha) at Wednesbury, but cannot find any trace of them  on the 1851 census.
Any help would be much appreciated. ???

Hi Heywood,
     Many thanks for your quick reply - took your advice and have checked the census and I am amazed.  It looks as if Thomas had died and left Martha, Jane and Mary.  I am delighted - I've been looking on and off for a couple of years for this info.  Surname quite a surprise - I've tried every combination, but not that one.  I am just a little upset to see that the girls were working at the colliery.
     Incidentally on the 1841 census the name is 'Bidle'  HO107; Piece: 984/7;
 Folio: 34; Page:20.
     Many thanks again I am most grateful.

Hi again,
glad that it was the right family. I know it is sad about the girls but I also think it is very interesting and something to be proud of really.

regards
heywood
