Boer War Handkerchief
« on: Sunday 22 August 10 23:26 BST (UK) »
I put this up for general interest, although if anyone can add anything I would appreciate it.

I am assuming it is Boer War 1900-1901, due to Buller's time there.

I particularly like the tricycle mounted machine gun bottom right.

wow what a great find  it give you so much information as well and looks in very good condition and Austalian  troops on it :)

I had a lot of things sent me recently  to do with my family and  my grandfather and the Boer war. I have even got his pay books  . I say books because he has a normal one and one which say for use on active service in the field.

the 1900 tin Queen Victoria sent out to the troops with Chocolates in it  It a roundtree time I only found out that the different chocolate makers  make their own tins  to put the chocolate in  and all are a little bit different

we have the one from Queen Mary as well in the family  but in the stuff i was sent there was the Christmas card as well , look like it was printed yesterday.

I thought the motor gun carriage was a flight of imagination.

Not so - it was shown at the Crystal Palace in 1899 and the handkerchief is obviously based on this photo.
