Charlotte Hall of Stoke Bruerne
« on: Monday 23 August 10 01:27 BST (UK) »
Looking for any information about Charlotte Hall, born 1795-1800 in Stoke Bruerne.

According to IGI she married James Wood in West Haddon in 1829 and subsequent census entries confirm her allegience to Stoke Bruerne, but birth records just draw a blank.

Thanks

Hi acwood.

Welcome to Rootschat.  :)

There does not seem to be a Charlotte Hall on the Northants Bap Indexes.

Norman Tew does have the Hall family of Bruerne on his web site though.

Any more clues that may help at all.

Thanks Sandy,

I'd had a look at Norman's site and been in touch with him, but although he was most helpful we had no luck in finding Charlotte.

Charlotte (and James) Wood appear in the census returns:

1841West HaddonAge 43b Northants (1798)
1851Cattel Bank, Kingsthorpe Age 53b Stoke Bruerne (1798)
1861Cock Lane, Kingsthorpe Age 61b Stoke Bruen (1800)
1871Cattle Bank, KingsthorpeAge 76b Stoke Breuin (1795)

IGI lists a marriage between of James Wood and Charlotte Hall at "Bannes Church, West Haddon" on 9 Nov 1829 but there is no batch/sheet reference.

Their five children are listed in IGI batch I007108, all baptized in West Haddon.

I'm wondering if the marriage detaills have been transcribed correctly, so I'll take another look through all the Charlottes on Norman's site.

I have access to the West Haddon parish registers at my local library, and would be happy to have a look at James and Charlotte's marriage entry if it's of any help.

Hi again acwood.

On the Northants Marriage Index the details for marriage are the same.

West Haddon

09 Nov 1829
James WOOD otp bach to Charlotte HALL otp spinster

Maybe the witnesses may have clues.

A Charlotte HALL was baptised in the nearby parish of Grafton Regis.
28th Aug 1796, parents Anthony and Elizabeth.

If this is your ancestor then the family moved to Alderton.

Next village to Grafton.

The West Haddon parish register fiches confirm James and Charlotte's marriage, as found by Sandy on the Northants. MI.  The witnesses were John ADAMS and Sarah BRADSHAW.

Wow, many thanks everyone.

Only a couple of miles between Grafton Regis and Stoke Bruerne so the daughter of Anthony and Elizabeth looks promising, although I'm not aware of any more Anthonys in their immediate descendants.
