Hi all

please could someone shed some light on this occupation? There are a few on the same census that are the same.

Many Thanks

Hello Katy,

it means Female Servant - if you get any M S - male servant. Sometimes their jobs are specified but often it is just the initials.

best wishes

Katy, if you scroll down this page http://freepages.history.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~framland/census/1841directions.htm you will see some of the instructions given to enumerators about entering occupations and abbreviations in the 1841 census.
