Dublin Castle Intellegence website has him with military records, photos etc. Found it by googling him as "Captain Parcell Rees Bowen"

http://www.cairogang.com/other-people/british/castle-intelligence/bowen/purcell-bowen.html

Contains military record, photos and more. He was killed by Sin Fein. He is described ad a war hero.

3. Where is Herrion Street in Dublin - I suspect it is a misprint

Initially I suspected an OCR error but, having read the post through, I suspect it is your own transcription error.

Are you sure about the guys name?

On the 1901 census from your site it looks like Purcel Bowen (did you notice that all his siblings and his mother have 'Do' under Bowen, but he has Bowen recorded?).

On the 'blue lined' list (14.1.21) it looks like "Lieut Purcell B Bowen"

My opinion is that the guy was named Purcell Rees Bowen. Google searches (now that it has been dumbed down) all seem to lead back to your website.

Dara.

1. There was only one reference to the place in Dublin that I could find on the web. I copied and pasted that as "Herrion Street"

2. One of the problems with Google is that my information quickly becomes the source quotes (see this thread for example)
The man's name was "Parcell Rees Bowen" he was born as such, and has London Gazette entries were that including MC and DFC citations, and is buried as such
The only places at wavers from that spelling is in census (understandable, as it is an odd name for the enumerator) and when in died in Dublin (when his death and coffin records are "Purcell")
However I am certain that there was only one man, in other words there was no a "Purcell" and a "Parcell", only a Parcell

Parcell Rees Bowen has it all on

What I really want to know is about his death, there must have been a write up somewhere

There is a report on PRB in: It is on a pay site:

https://www.irishnewsarchive.com/

Freemans Journal
Friday, October 29, 1920
Page: 8

The bit I can see without paying is "Ex-Officers death in a Dublin street.
The body of Purcell M. Bowen of Carmar

To get the full cutting will cost 10 euro for a 24 hr. View.

Came up straight away. i put in Bowen for the year 1920. so he was using his own name...
