COUND - Sheffield

I am helping a friend in trying to put together his family tree.

He is really struggling with this because he has little or no information.

What he has is as follows:

His parents were:

JOHN PHILIP PETER COUND born 1938 and died in 2007 (both in Sheffield)
who in 1960 married
JUDY WILD born 1941 and died in 2003 (both in Sheffield)

His paternal grandparents were:
JOHN PHILIP COUND born c. 1915 and died c. 1985 (both in Sheffield)
and
NANCY JENKINSON born 1920 and died 1990 (both in Sheffield)

Can anybody help to unravel this?
Perhaps help to find out the maternal grandparents? And perhaps the maternal and paternal great grandparents.

This looks like John Cound and Nancy Jenkinsons marriage

Date of Registration/  Apr-May-Jun 1937
Reg District/               Sheffield
Reg County/               Yorkshire West Riding
Volume No/                 9c
Page No/                     679

By ordering their marriage certificate from the General Register Office this should hopefully provide you with the names of both John and Nancy's fathers which should then hopefully make it easier to trace them on census records.

The above marriage registration which I found is in the names of Phillip Cound and Nancy Jenkinson - not John Phillip Cound.

I will see if I can find the same details for John Counds birth registration which would enable you to order his birth certificate if you wished to.

There is no John Philip Cound death but there is a Philip Cound b 7.12.1911 died December 1989 Sheffield

There is a Nancy Cound  b 24.12.1917 died June 1992 Sheffield

The marriage shows him as just Philip Cound to Nancy Jenkinson June qtr 1937 Sheffield 9C 679

You will now be able to use freebmd to lookup their respective births as mothers maiden names will be shown against the entries which will help you find their parents marriages
