Valentina Bovianovsky - how to trace?
« on: Tuesday 24 August 10 15:22 BST (UK) »
Good day,

In the passenger manifest of those , who arrived to New York from Paris on 7 December 1948 there is one Valentina BOVIANOVSKY, female, 39 years, Nansen passport holder.
No other record in Ancestry or any other database that I have searched.
There is no such family name Bovianovsky (Bovianovska) in Russia, Ukraine or Poland. Google return no result for this family at all.

I am almost sure, that the name as well as Nansen passport were bogus.
But are there any other document originated during the entry to the USA besides this passenger manifest where arrived person was recorded?

Thanks
Mike

Hi Mike

Did you note that her 'Permanent Address" from where she came, was the same as the woman above her?

160 Blvd Bineau, Neuilly, France
Tchitcherine C. ERYSTAVI 60, Nansen passport issued 1 Dec 1945

Valentina's Nansenpass was issued 19 Jul 1939

There is also a US address written over Valentina's adress field details:
168?? Argonne Pl. Wash DC.

They arrived in New York on a plane.

Cheers

Hi Ambly,

Yes, I know about Clementine Eristavi-Tchitcherine, she is actually the lady, I am looking for.
This Valentina Bovianovsky was a companion to Clementine during her trip to USA.

I have checked with League of Nations archives at United Nations Library, Geneva but they do not have records of Nansen passports of these two ladies. So, the only place left to look is at Archives Nationales de France in Paris.

Thank you for handwritten address - I somehow missed it :)
The number looks like 1686, but at the moment, the last number on Argonne Pl. is 1674.

Just checked at higher resolution, number seems to be 1601

Thanks
Mike

Hi Seamike

Clementine seems to be a facinating study - did you know she applied for a US passport in 1919 (looks like a renewal of an earlier one issued in 1917)  under her first married name, Mrs. Clementine De Vere Wirtheim ?

Cheers

Hi Ambly,

I know this very long story  :)

But some most intersting pages are still missing. Can only guess what they are about  :)
