Helpful websites for Western Canada
« on: Tuesday 24 August 10 17:08 BST (UK) »
I find these websites to be useful for searching in Western Canada
This one has census returns (use the link that has all 3 years) for 1901, 1906 and 1911. The Henderson Directories were books that were published every year
that list all citizens over 18 along with address and occupation. You can cross reference the address in either the front or later years in the back of the book for the head of the household.

Your last link is not actually ships arriving in Nanaimo but a passenger list project being indexed by the Family History Society in Nanaimo.

Yes, I should have known that. I found my grandfather on this website and he definitely didn't arrive in Canada on the west coast. I have now changed the post so it contains more accurate information.
