What was his full name, birthyear and what year did he die?

Are you wanting to actually view his records there whilst he was a patient as there are some restrictions on that type of info

You can obtain a copy of his death cert for £9.25 but the info above is needed first

Hello,

his full name was John William Robert Proctor. b. 15.09.1889 in Middlesex.
He married Jessie Elizabeth Prior Dec 1915 in Camberwell.
he died 17.10.1935 Charshalton Surrey.

I'm just interested in trying to find as many recordsinfo on him as i can.
So far, all my family tree consists of is names and dates and am interested in finding out stories or anything to build a picture in my mind of his life, etc. I never know where to look.
Thank you for your time in reading and replying to my thread.
 :)

Do you already have the 1891/1901 census for him?

He was baptised on 15.9.1889 (are you sure you have the right birth for him) at Christ Church Camberwell parents George & Eliza. George was a brass finisher and they lived at 18 Shenton St

I know what you mean about just names and dates.  My lot were very boring really.  My sister says "they were born, they lived and they died - so what"  Her enthusiasm for FH is overwhelming as you can see!!

I really envy those people who have a bit of scandal or somebody who has achieved some sort of notoriety in their ancestry

Hi,

Netherne Hospital was in Hooley, Coulsdon, Surrey. Its records are held at the Surrey History Centre in Woking but records relating to named patients are closed for 100 years.

Don't be discouraged. I thought my family history was going to be very dull until I started looking. Things like military service records and census entries have revealed all sorts of detail I didn't expect. Good luck!

Thank you for your help.

I think watching those programs, such as, WDYTYA, put thoughts in my head and it's not as easy as they make it out to be. I'd love a number of people help me do some reasearch (obviously they are all professionals and know exactly where and what to look for)  :P

Sometimes i don't feel like i'm actually getting to know the history of my family - just random names.

I sympathise. I love WDYTYA but it makes it look easy and you don't realise that it can be an expensive undertaking, subscribing to databases or buying records - very satisfying though when you do find something, especially a family scandal  ;D
