John Tilstone/Phoebe Starkey
« on: Wednesday 25 August 10 19:30 BST (UK) »
I am looking for help in trying to find the parents of either of these two. John Tillstone was born in Chester around 1680 and Phoebe Starkey around 1678. She was a widow when married so Starkey may well be her previous marriage name. They married in 1705 at the Saint John The Baptist Church in Chester.

Any help discovering more about them would be grately appreciated.
Tillstone-Sussex, Austin

Hi Tilly

Some possibilities -

On the familysearch pilot site there's a marriage in 1696 in Chester (Holy Trinity)for Peter Starkey and Phoebe Kirks.

Peter dies in 1703 as there's a burial for him in Chester (St John the Baptist) in 1703.

Baptisms for a couple of children  in Chester whose father was Peter Starkey -John in 1697 and Peter in 1700.

Phoebe  Starkey would then be a widow.

I just input the surname in the search and Cheshire in the location.

On the same site there are a couple of baptisms for John Tilstone (different dates) -father  John - and a baptism for Phebe? Kirks/Kirkes -father John.

Going further back - a marriage of John Kirkes to Phoebe Kelsall ?

These details are also on the Cheshire Parish Register Database - try using the different spellings for Kirks/Kirkes.

I'm not sure that these are definitely the records you're looking for but they are possibilities.

Hope this helps
