1908 London directory
« on: Friday 27 August 10 07:07 BST (UK) »
I have a birth at 1 Wandle Bank  in1908, mother Ada Elizabeth Farquharson (Housemaid) living a t 35 Quicks Road, Wimbledon which is close by. I wondered if 1 Wandle Bank may have been a home for unwed mums or who might have been livinjg in Quicks Road.  Any help or advice would be gratefully received.

the 1913 Surrey directory here shows a Mrs Fanny Brown, midwife, at that address.

 - if you search here for surname Brown and residence 1 Wandle Bank, both Fanny Brown and a William (son?) show up.
(interestingly if you put in Brown and 35 Quicks Road there's a Brown family at that address in 1911, too).

You are wonderful, thank you so much for doing that, I will check out both those sites you gave me, I had a feeling that the Wandle Bank had to be something like a birthing place of sorts?  This particular birth and descendants are the big puzzle at the moment.
