Good Morning Roots-Chatters !
Now the nights are drawing in (!) I'm back on the trail of my elusive East End ancestors .

Currently particularly looking for 2 Charles MAYs .

Charles MAY , b abt 1857 in Wargrave Berks to Charles (b 1832 , East Ilsley , Berks) and Jane (b 1834 , Thatcham , Berks , nee BERRY , ) . I know they'd all moved to London by 1861 altho' Census returns for the area of interest have been lost/destroyed .

Teenage Charles (1857) crops up again in 1871 at 41 Brown St , Marylebone (RG10 / P167 / F16 / Pg 25) with his step-mother Elizabeth and his younger brother William .(Jane died 1864 and Charles (1832) married her sister )
No sign of Charles (1832) in this census .

Charles (1832) , Elizabeth and new children are all together in 1881 at 27 Farrance St , Limehouse (RG11/469/F46/Pg18) but now I've lost Charles (1857) .

None of them want to be found in 1891 . Charles (1832) dies in 1896 and a middle-aged Charles (1857) re-appears in 1901 living with a couple of his half-sisters and their families at 189 High St , Poplar (RG13 / P354 / F136 / Pg32)

If anyone can fill in any of these gaps , or offer any links or connections , I'd be most grateful .

Baptised 23rd Nov 1856
Father = Charles MAY
Mother = Jane MAY

Will check and see what I can find on the Census for you

Thanks for the info KarenLee - sorry for delay in responding bu tI had complete PC failure just minutes after posting !

The 1871 Cenusus is a red-herring - my Charles May was at 41 Brown St in 1871 . It was 1881 where I'd lost him again ! Bu tthanks anyway .

Where are you finding the Wargrave babtism records ?  Can you look for Ellen May , maybe 1855 , please ? Altho' that may be Thatcham Berks .

There's a Henry May baptised 11.7.1855 Thatcham Berks parents Charles and Jane. Cant find an Ellen though.
