Marychurch of Hammersmith
« on: Monday 30 August 10 04:16 BST (UK) »
Can anyone help me to find some information on the Marychurch family from Hammersmith? I have Francis Webb Marychurch who was born approx. 1800, he married Harriet Clements (b.1804?) in 1829. His father was Francis Marychurch and his mother, presumably was a Webb, though I haven't found any information about them, except that they were also from Hammersmith.

It isn't a common name thankfully, but most of the information I have is from the I.G.I. and of course it isn't particularly detailed, so any further information would be appreciated.

Pilot Familysearch also has a Harriot CLEMENTS baptised at Sawbridgworth, Hertfordshire, 15 Jan 1797, mother only listed as Mary CLEMENTS.

Harriet's age in 1861 could have been 64, as the second number is partially obscured, which would tie in nicely with a 1796-97 birth.

http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/documentsonline has a will for Francis Webb MARYCHURCH of St George Hanover Square dated 19 Dec 1837, and one for a Francis MARYCHURCH from Bristol, Gloucester from 1852. These can be downloaded from that site for £3.50 I think still.

The Bristol Mercury (Bristol, England), Monday, November 22, 1819
Died Nov 14, Mrs Marychurch, wife of Mr Marychurch, saddler, and sister to Mr John WELDY, Commercial Rooms

From Pilotsearch - Francis married Sarah WELDY at Bristol, 9 Jun 1798.

The WELDY name ties in with the son of Francis Webb and Harriet.

The Henry Weldy MARYCHURCH I picked up earlier was born about 1811 in Bristol, and was a clergyman, died 1889 in Southport, Lancashire.

Looks like the same family to me after that find.

From I.G.I - Sarah Ann Weldy b. 1774 London,  parents James/Elizabeth

James Weldy married Elisabeth Ingelthorp 1761 St Ann Soho Westminster London

Elizabeth Ingelthorp b.1737 St Anne Soho Westminster London parents Thomas/Mary

James Waldie b. 1742 Stepney London

Can't be sure of course, but they sound like the right family. I haven't tried to find siblings for them yet.

Lindy

I think you'll find that both the MARYCHURCH and WELDY families came from Gloucestershire, and it might be worth posting on that board to see what can be found there.

Thank you, I will do that. There also seems to be a lot of Marychurches in Wales, including a Francis born in 1773, so I might have to try there too.
