Looking for some quick help as I am off to London to do some field research on my ancestor Christopher Fletcher Brumfield b. about 1836 in Benniworth, Lincolnshire. He moved to London and is found with the Metropolitan Police stationed in Ruislip reaching the rank of Inspectore by 1881.
I have him in every census except 1861. Using Ancestry there may be an indexing problem.
Going to try and get his police record tomorrow.

Have tried every which way but I cannot find him on 1861, UNLESS someone else knows better

Thank you so much for looking. I am on my way to the National Archive hopefully I will find his record with the Met Police.
I can only think that he may have moved about this time and just missed the census he certainly won't be the first.
