Statutory Birth Record(s) - William Cameron Children
« on: Saturday 04 September 10 02:42 BST (UK) »
I'm hoping to find information about one or more children of William Cameron (1875-1950) and Jessie Ann Wilson Kennedy (April 22, 1885 - 1960) from Glasgow.  They married in 1918.  He was a printer.  They lived at 7 Leslie Street at the time of William's death on September 9, 1950.

Ultimately, I'm hoping to get more information about William's mother Davina Walker Cameron (1839-1918).  I have all birth, marriage, death, census, etc. records so at this point I'm hoping to connect with a living family member to uncover things more personal, such as copies of letters and photos.  At least two of Davina's four sons (James and Robert) died without children.  I'm hoping William had children so I can keep looking down that path.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.  I've done searches for births on Scotland's People (I think I'm keeping that organization in the black with all the records I've downloaded over the past several years) but I can't narrow it down to a small enough list for their children.

Thanks for the reply.  Sorry, I'm not familiar with the GR acronym.  Can you provide more information about what that resource is?

Hi bhoyt

GR is frequently used to mean Genes Reunited.

I hope this helps.

Kind regards, Arranroots  ;)

Thanks for the clarification Arranroots and thanks for the lead sancti, I really appreciate the help.  I looked at that record on Genes Reunited and noticed that the reference to Davina was created by someone I've been in touch with previously.  She's married to a man with whom I have a common Gx-Grandfather, David Walker.

I'm hoping by going sideways with the Camerons I can drill down into contemporary Cameron generations who might then help me go backwards again (not sure that makes any sense).

I ordered the 1960 death certificate from ScotlandsPeople for Jessie Ann Wilson Kennedy Cameron (wow, that's a lot of names) because unfortunately an image isn't available.  I'm hoping there's a reference to a child on that record.  Until then, I thought I'd see if anyone else is looking for the same person/people.

Was William a widower when he married Jessica?

Although he was 42 when he married Jessie in 1918, the marriage record lists him as a Bachelor rather than a Widower.  His death record only refers to his marriage to Jessie.  If I recall correctly from looking at other death records, if there was a prior wife, she would be listed as well.  So, if I can trust those records, it doesn't look like there was a prior wife.

She was 33 when she married in 1918.  She was born on April 22, 1885.  Her parents were James Kennedy and Margaret Wilson Kennedy, married September 4, 1873.
