Arthur F Derrick
« on: Sunday 05 September 10 20:40 BST (UK) »
I am looking for the family of Arthur F Derrick born in Bristol in 1885, and may have been married to Beatrice Annie Sheasby.  His father was Edwin Thomas Derrick and his mother was Sarah Ann Boulter. I know about his siblings, Harry and Florence and their families but I have nothing about Arthur. It is possible that one of his daughters married a man surnamed Chamberlain and that they may have had a daughter Vivienne. That is all I know.

This is the marriage you refer to

Marriages December qtr 1909

Arthur Francis Derrick    Bristol  6a 271
Beatrice Annie Sheasby

Have you checked the 1911 census for them?

Have you checked freebmd for Derrick births with mothers maiden name Sheasby (only available from September qtr 1911)

The free 1911 index has an Arthur Derrick b 1885 living in Bristol Gloucestershire but I can't see an entry for a Beatrice Annie Derrick.  There is one for an Annie Derrick b 1887 in Bristol

There are a lot of Derrick's in Bristol!!

I have just done a cross match to Beatrice May Derrick and parents appear to be Annie b 1887 and Walter James b 1885 - see instructions for family searching below

USING THE FREE 1911 INDEX TO DETERMINE THE CORRECT HOUSEHOLD

http://www.1911census.co.uk/search/tnaform.aspx

Once you find a possible match - make a note of the county and district in which the person was living

Return to the index and in PERSONAL DETAILS - just put the surname of the family - nothing else

In LOCATION - Select the county and below it - type in the district

In OTHER MEMBERS OF THE HOUSEHOLD - show the full name of the person you have found on the index

Click SEARCH

You will have to buy credits to view the full entry - the above instructions will only help to possibly show others of the same name in the same household

I now have Arthur Derrick married to Edith Derrick with 1 year old child Marjorie. The occupation is put as Dentistry Assisstant, this is interesting as his father was a practicing Dental surgeon.Think I may possibly be on the right track.Must now look at thew marriage.
Thanks for your help.

If you are happy that the 1911 entry you found is the correct - he must have been Arthur Francis Derrick

Thanks Carole

I am sure this is correct, the fact that he was a dental assisstant really confirms it.
Now some foot work to Bristol Registery Office. It will be cheaper than Ancestry.

Thanks for your help in this matter.
