Does anyone know about the history of 40 Napier Road, Luton? My ancestor Frederick Furlong lived there in the early 1900s.

It would appear to be still standing, Andy.

If you use the photographic view on Google Maps, it is the right hand semi with a green car and a silver car parked in front.

Well he wasn't living there (or was head of household) in 1911 or 1917 according to the 2 Luton Year books I have. In 1917 the address is of the NSPCC

Hi Andy,  I've been looking through the records for Luton and haven't been able to pinpoint the Furlongs in Napier Road at all.  I have a family in 1901 with George Furlong, wife Mary, children William, Edgar and a daughter  Lilian (?) living in Norton College, Havelock Road Luton.  George is the schoolmaster.  They are still in Havelock Road in 1903.  The next records I have for 1908 show a Guy Stenning at 40 Napier Road; but there is however a Frederick Furlong living at 44 Brook Street Luton in that year.

The 1901 census shows a Frederick Furlong born in Luton, aged 22 living in Aston Birmingham, occupation Railway Clerk.  If you have any other information I'm happy to have a look for you and will try and access records prior to 1901 if you are sure of the Napier Road address.

Regards
Marian
