« on: Tuesday 05 April 05 20:51 BST (UK) »
Edward NORMAN (b. abt 1809) married Maria Tyley GREEN (b. abt 1813) on 22 April 1834 in Wedmore.  Only known child was John NORMAN, born abt 1834.

John married Mary and they had the following known children; Jesse, Mary (m. Tom ESCOTT), John, Edward, George, Earnest, and Thomas.  In the 1881 census, they are living on the Northload Farm in Wedmore.

Any information or connections would be greatly appreciated.

I know it's been years since the last reply but I thought I'd try anyway.  I am related to the Norman family from Wedmore and was wondering if you know who Edward Norman's parents are ?

Hi
A late baptism at Wedmore 3. Dec 1835
Edward Norman s of Edward and Maria Norman farmer born 14 June 1798

or possible Edmund Norman born 19.11.1809 bapt 20 Dec 1809 s of William and Anna Norman
I think it's the first one  but he's 35 rounded down on the 1841 census. Other Edmund seems to be with his parents 1841.
Possible burial Wedmore
Edward Norman 25 Jan 1851 age 52 Northload in theale.
Maria Tyley Norman buried 21.11.1862 age 51 of Blackford.

This is a very old query and it is possible you may not get a reply from OldFolks.

Welcome to Rootschat anyhow.

FreeREG has Bapts of children of Edward/Maria in Theale;
EDWARD and JOHN 03 Dec 1835 (John born 22 Oct 1834, no birth date for Edward)
ESTHER ANN 16 Jun 1837 (born 22 Oct 1834)
MARY JANE 24 Dec 1839
WILLIAM 16 Feb 1844
Fathers occp Farmer

1851 as you know Maria  is widowed;
Maria Norman   40
John Norman   16
William Norman   6

Burial;
25 Jan 1851, St Mary, Wedmore
EDWARD Norman age 52
Abode North Load
(GRO confirms age 52)

So Edward born c 1800???

Having said that there is this bapt Wedmore;
EDMUND Norman 20 Dec 1809 to WILLIAM/ANNE
(You can ignore this one as he may have died as they have another Son Edmund 1814 and a possible Edward 1816)

1861 we have;
Maria Norman 50 Head
John Norman 26 Son
Mary Jane Norman 21   Daughter
William Norman 17 Son
John Comer 16   Nephew
Sarah Counsell 16 Servant

1851 Mary Jane seems to be away at a  School for Young Ladies

Sorry not much help.

Trish :)

I looked up that original record for Edward.  I had not come across a record with a parent being baptized at the same time as two of their children before.  Explains why I haven't found a baptism record around the time of Edwards birth but still leaves his parents a mystery.  I have seen several undocumented trees on Ancestry that have Edward's parents listed as William Norman and Elizabeth Tyley.  This couple are my 4x great grandparents through their daughter Elizabeth.   That's the reason for my original question concerning Edward.  The other siblings of Elizabeth that I'm aware of (William, John and Anne) were all baptized close to if not in their year of birth.
This is without confusing the issue with Edward's wife, Maria Tyley Green.  I have a Hannah Green as my 4x great grandmother and am also related two different ways to the Tyley family.
Thanks for the responses and listening (actually reading).
