St Dunstans-Stepney Bishop's Transcripts?
« on: Wednesday 08 September 10 19:26 BST (UK) »
Do Bishop's Transcripts for St. Dunstan's in Stepney exist?  If so, where?  Transcribed?  Published?  Microfilmed?  There are periods not covered in the basic parish registers.  (I've conducted what I think is a rather thorough search but I cannot find any reference to them.)  Keith

Hi

search the London Metropolitan Archives London Generation database here

http://www.cityoflondon.gov.uk/londonGenerations/

or contact the LMA for details of BTs they hold.

Valda:

Thanks for the suggestion.  I've previously checked the London Generations online database using various keywords but it returned no results.  I've been awaiting a response from the LMA.  I've not been able to find anything elsewhere online.  I thought someone in this forum might know the answer.

Hi

If the Generations database and the LMA catalogue

http://search.lma.gov.uk/OPAC_LMA/login.html

is not giving any information that either means the information has not been inputted or there are no surviving BTs - the earlier the period you are interested in the more likely that might be the case.

Often the Family History Centre catalogue (in this case the London one) gives an indication of BT holdings which are on microfilm

http://www.londonfhc.org/content/catalogue?c=45&p=England,England,Middlesex,Stepney&f=1

there seems no mention
