Hi Rosalie,

I've just been to St Woolos cemetery and found the following from the office:

Rogerson Harold S

Found drowned Alexandra Dock aged 31

Buried 4:11: 1946

Grave Number  CFCD  37 84

Mrs Rose Rogerson grave owner.

I couldn't find any grave/headstone,but was shown the spot where the grave should be.I have taken a few photographs of the general area and would be happy to email them on,if you want to pm your email address.

Steve

Just like add how helpful the people at St Woolos were.

Hi Steve

Have sent you a PM I cannot thank you enough, I wonder why no grave or headstone I know one was paid for by my mother Mrs Rose Rogerson.

Just to add that I have emailed an eminent MN historian that I know to see if he has any further information about your dad.
With luck he may be able to identify the ship.

The name of the ship was Empire Beatrice. Don`t know if this helps at all?

Rosalie you have a pm.

I see that you have posted on the Ships Nostalgia web site.

Try this site as it is where my historian hangs out.
Probably the best site for help in maritme matters.

Hi everyone

Just to bring you all up to date. My husband, myself and our three jack russells have just  visited the cemetery in  Newport Gwent layed flowers and said a prayer for my dad, it breaks my heart to think that no one as visited him in 63 years. Just a piece of grass no headstone nothing so sad.

The staff at the cemetery was great they took us to were he lays and told us about the cemetery and the people that are buried there.

We will be going back to plant a tree and a cross in his memory.

I would like to thank everyone here on the forum who as helped me in my quest, to Steve100 a special thank you and when we visit next time I hope we can meet up for a cup of coffee or maybe something stronger

love to all you all xx
