Charles Ferres (or Ferris)/ Ida Anderson m Manhatten 1885
« on: Thursday 09 September 10 22:43 BST (UK) »
Hi US Rootschatters

I've come across an entry, on the IGI,  of a marriage in Manhattan on 1 Nov 1885 between Charles Ferres - (son of Charles Ferres and Jane Palmer of Larne, County Antrim Ireland) - to Ida Anderson of Manhattan. Which in its self a great find for me.

I haven't been able to trace anything else on the couple, and would really appreciate some help on what happened to them next.

Many thanks,

Margaret

Hi Mags,

Was Charles born in Ireland ?  Have you got a date of birth ?

This entry says the parents are William Ferris and Jane Palmer -

Hi Sandra,

Of course his father was William! (having a senior moment here!) mother Jane Palmer. Charles was born in Larne, County Antrim, circa 1860, and believe that his trade may have been a plaster/stone worker.

I have to hit the sack now - 11.20pm here and have to be up at 6am - groan!!!

Any little snippets of info gratefully accepted!

Night night

Hi Mags,

Sorry I'm not getting off first base with this one. This is the chap you are trying to link in to the Ballentine family. Can't see any Charles and Ida together - earliest Census to check was 1892 New York (if they stayed there) but nothing.  Don't show later either. Tried a few variants Ferres/ferris/ferries etc. The 1892 New York census link is below.
