HELP - Old Lady found dead at home 1980's MORPETH
« on: Friday 10 September 10 08:36 BST (UK) »
i I am trying to find out about this death in Morpeth.  It was the talk of the town in the 1980's.  The woman died at home and when discovered had been partly eaten by her pet/s.  he newspaper said they had not covered it.  Does anyone remember it ? :-\

Hi and welcome to rootschat :)

Wouldn't there have been an inquest?
The cat eating would not have been the cause of death, surely. ???

Welcome from me, too  :)

I'm sure there must have been an inquest, Charlotte, but you can't get at coroners reports for 75 years.

On the other hand I find it hard to believe that newspapers didn't cover this - which one(s) did you ask?

Hi Christine, I also find it very hard to accept that the newspapers didn't carry anything about this.
On TV now it would be the lead item, gruesome pics, comments from neighbours, relatives, witnesses ... the lot.

Hi
This is a relatively recent death and there may well be surviving relatives who would be upset by this being discussed on here.   Please be careful what you post.  As this is a request from a completely new poster we cannot send a pm until they respond on here again but that will be the best route to follow if you can help I think.
Regards
Andrea

You are so right, Andrea.  It is a fault of mine that I live in the past more than the present and tend to forget when I'm dealing with more modern information.
