Charles Richard Thompson
« on: Sunday 12 September 10 15:08 BST (UK) »
Said I would find out more about this man for my friend.

He married in 1901 to Ada Lewis in Pimlico .
Ada Lewis was a servant in Hanover Street.
He was a labourer living at Commercial Road Pimlico
According to 1911 census ,he a wharf labourer born in Pimlico abt 1877
Ada and Charles had two children, Gertrude and Ernest both born Pimlico

It said they had been married 9 years and Ada was from Heybridge Essex

I got the marriage certificate which says Charles father is John Thompson a police Constable.

Cant find Charles in 1901 or before .
Witnesses were John Thompson and Jane Lewis .
Would love to find out more about Thompson family especially the Police constable .
 Any suggestions welcome !

Brilliant find  :)Thankyou both for looking
Charles on 1901 cencus is more than likely the right one as he is said to be living on Commerial Road when he got married in that year,

Its a possiblity John is the brother

There was a John who was a witness at the wedding The certificate does not say father deceased but John a Police constable. now to find him earlier

Hi

The lack of the word deceased on the marriage certificate is unfortunately no proof whether a father was alive or dead. There is and was no question on the marriage certificate that asked for this information. It was the custom of some officials to ask for the information, but many did not since it wasn't a requirement.
