BOWEN: Carmarthenshire Baptisms Look up
« on: Sunday 12 September 10 16:11 BST (UK) »
Hi There,

I would be most grateful if someone could do some look ups for the baptisms of the children of John Bowen of  Llannon. The dates of the baptisms are I beleive as follows:
Catherine 15th March 1799,
Daniel 22nd Feb 1802,
Edward, Morgan, Hannah and Sarah are all shown as being baptised 6th Dec 1815.

I just want to confirm these are the children of John Bowen and Mary Thomas who married in 1796.

All the best Stephen.

the 1815 baptisms are submitted by a member of the LDS church. They do not appear in the extracted batch for Llannon. Do you have confirmation of the baptism dates from another source?

Hi There,

I can confirm that the baptisms of Edward, Morgan, Hannah and Sarah on the 6th December 1815
are correct. I was in the Carmarthen records office last week and saw them myself. They are the children of John and Mary Bowen. I could not confirm the baptism of Daniel Bowen in 1802 because the record was in a poor state. Also the parents of Catherine were recorded as Catherine and John not John and Mary.

All the best,

Stephen

do you mean the copy was in a poor state or the original that it was copied from?
The originals are at the NLW as are the BTs. As you have dates, you can get copies of the records.

Hi,

The film at the Carmarthen records office was generally in good condition  except for one or two places. One of the places where it was poor was the record of baptisms in 1802. I will contact the the library of Wales.

All the best

Stephen.
