Hello  -  My father-in-law was Frederick George Knowles of Bearsted, Kent, England.  Are you a relative?

Hi cknowles
bit complicated but yes my grandmother clara margaret harcus  lived with him from about 1924 until he died they had two children together nellie marjory knowles b 1925 & frederick george knowles b1937 d 1978 so they were my mums half brother & sister my uncle & aunt , and i always knew him as grandad when i was a kid, have attached photo of fred clara & young fred.

Alan - Nice to have an email from you.  I am the widow of Fred Knowles (1937-1978).  Your brother, Stu and I are often in touch.  Thought perhaps you were from a branch of the family I didn't know about. :)

Are you in the area of NZ where the earthquake struck several weeks ago?

Regards, Carol Knowles

Hi carol
I was also thinking i had found a link stu did'nt know about , nice to hear from you all the same. yes we felt the earth quake , but not as bad as christchurch lots of damage there many homes and shops ruined , but no loss of life or serious injury.
