** COMPLETED ** Where in Dublin was this 1868 marriage? Can you help...?
« on: Monday 13 September 10 11:22 BST (UK) »
Hi there

I know the date of the marriage and the name of the bride and groom.   However I don't know what church.  The record is on the LDS site, but for place you just get "City of Dublin, No 1, Ireland".

Details are:

James Doyle marrying Agnes Keating.  19 July 1868.

Groom's father: Thomas Doyle
Bride's father: John Keating

Any help would be greatly appreciated.  I want to order the certificate but I need the church name before I do so.

Thanks.

I don't think you need the name of the church.
This is a civil index.
The details you have are sufficient.
The church should be on the cert. or extract when you receive it.

ps there are posts which advise you on how to send for certs or extracts.

Thanks so much - I was worried I wouldn't be able to find it without the church.  I've never sent for an Irish cert before so will read the other threads for advice.

Cheers all!

If you look further down the LDS extracted record, you will see some reference details which help locate the correct BMD Index refs. required to order a research cert :

 Reference Number: p467 ln157

This is the corresponding index record :  :

 Name: Agnes Keating
 Registration District: Dublin North
 Event Type: Marriage
 Quarter and Year: 1868
 Volume Number: 12 / Page Number: 467

(the page number matches the extracted record reference).

A cert will show more details such as the church, residences of the bride and groom, occupations etc

see :
 Ordering Certs from GRO Roscommon

 Introduction to Irish Records

Details included on a Marriage Cert

Thank you Shane.  On the (terribly laid out!) form I've just printed off , there's no where to write the 467 reference number.  Shall I just put it in anyway?

I am going to retype the form I think as its just a mess as its printed out and put it into the post that way instead!

have a look at the topic I linked ' Ordering Certs from GRO Roscommon'

just make sure all the required references - name, year, reg. district, volume & page, are included in your order. You can fill them in anywhere on the GRO form, or on a separate page.

Thanks - I've retyped it up so its legible and have included the details you talk about so hopefully all should be well.

Off to post office now to post it.

Thank you very much for all your help.

there are are some baptisms that appear to be children of James & Agnes on the parish record website at : www.irishgenealogy.ie

Ellen Esther Doyle, 14 Lwr Bridge St - 9 Apr 1872
Thomas Joannes Doyle, 11 Upr Bridge St - 7 Sept 1877

Agnes Maria of 11 Upr Bridge St. - 8 Jun 1880  removed - record was not a parent match

(Christian names were often recorded in latin) Parents are listed as Jacobi/Jacobus Doyle and Agnes/Agneti Keating.
