On the record I just crossed out above, looks like James and Agnes were sponsors (god-parents) for Agnes Burkes baptism. The address is the same as for Thomas Doyle baptism, so looks like the families shared the same building.

 Baptism of Agnes Burke

there are are some baptisms that appear to be children of James & Agnes on the parish record website at : www.irishgenealogy.ie

Ellen Esther Doyle, 14 Lwr Bridge St - 9 Apr 1872
Thomas Joannes Doyle, 11 Upr Bridge St - 7 Sept 1877

Agnes Maria of 11 Upr Bridge St. - 8 Jun 1880  removed - record was not a parent match

(Christian names were often recorded in latin) Parents are listed as Jacobi/Jacobus Doyle and Agnes/Agneti Keating.

Shane

Yes, I'd noticed the latin on some records!

Ellen way my nana's "aunty nelly".  My nana died a few years ago aged 94 so remembered a lot of these people!

I cant see their sister, my great grandmother, on that site (the lady in my photo on my profile).  I guess they just haven't put that record on.  Its on LDS though...

There's a few large RC parishes in Dublin north city yet to be added to the IrishGenealogy website - e.g. St. Mary's Marlborough St,. St. Paul's Arran quay.

Based on the location of the civil marriage (Dublin North City), and later baptisms, it looks like they moved to south city and to a new parish at some stage. I'd think it's possible that the marriage and earlier baptism may show up if/when the additional parishes are added to the website.

Bridge St was off Merchant's Quay, to the south of the River Liffey.

That's good to know.  Thank you very much Shane, for all the help you have provided for me today.  I really do appreciate it.  All these things have filled in gaps - and given I know so little about my Irish side, every little snippet is gold as far as I am concerned!

Edit to add - yes they did move as I know Mary Anne Doyle married her husband Thomas Kane in St Paul's, Arran Quay....  Agnes and James' address is given as 153 Church Street on that (in 1897).

one more detail for you...

based on the extracted details for Mary Ann's birth, which include the reference number 519 (in the district/address) - these are the references you would need if you wish to order her birth cert :

 Name: Mary Anne Doyle
 Registration District: Dublin North
 Event Type: Birth
 Year: 1869
 volume : 12 / page : 519

A birth cert would show more details than the extracted records - e.g. place of birth, residence of family, father's occupation etc
