Thanks Sue and Cando

I'm now not so sure this might be him  :-\
My James Reilley's wife had a child in January 1863,
and other young children so I'm doubting they would
be "carting" around Victoria

   Dare I say....you need the cert.   :)

I think I have the answers on this mystery from my second cousin who has been actively researching the family for many many years as to what happened to James Reilly. It is believed he was murdered in Framlingham Forest (near Warrnambool) in 1866. I have been sent relevant newspaper articles that support this as well as Inquest documentation. Some of this can also be found on trove but not all the information is there as most of the articles were in the Warrnambool Examiner which I cannot find online. I will try and post the relevant links below. The inquest also makes mention of the murder victim having had a significant historical injury to one of his lower legs. To firm up that this is in fact the mysterious James Reilly about two years earlier there was also an article from the Warrnambool Examiner about James Reilly breaking and crushing his leg in bullock dray accident about two years earlier. I feel very confident this mystery is now solved and the only mystery is where was James Reilly’s remains buried????

If anyone would like copies of the other articles that are not online please message me and I am happy to email them.
