DE BORDE - Passenger list look up *COMPLETED*

Some time between 1870 and 1874 - John and Sarah De Borde arrived in New Zealand with their children Ada Louise & Ellen Kate.  In 1874, Edith Blanche was born in Feilding and Agnes Ann born in Wellington in 1876.

John De Borde allegedly died in 1882, however have not yet been able to locate his death or burial. 

Sarah went on to remarry in Wellington in 1887 a George Michael Vincent Dorney.

De Borde's originated from Northampton, England.

 - you can see them  here under Deborde on the NZ passenger list. They arrived 1874.

paperspast.natlib.govt.nz shows that John was in legal trouble in 1877/1878, for debt and for failing to support his wife and children (search under both De Borde and Deborde) - there also turn up a couple of newspaper articles critical of his imprisonment.

If you search under Debord there's also in 1887 a court case between Sarah and George Dorney, for him using threatening language towards them. It says they'd been living together for about 12 years and had three or four children together.

Under De Bord, a court case between Sarah and John where he was charged with "habitual drunkeness and cruelty" and she was given some sort of protection order.

Not sure if this is any help

Edith Blanche married in 1900 to Alexander Bain Melrose, she married again in 1945 to Thomas Lovejoy and again in 1946 to William Lovejoy.

She is buried in Levin at the Anglican cemetery, maybe her headstone will give a clue as to a living relative that may know what became of John Deborde.
