Stillborn Childrens Register?
« on: Tuesday 14 September 10 21:59 BST (UK) »
Does anyone know if a register exists for stillborn children who were born in Coatbridge, Lanarkshire? I have several from the one family who all died about 1896 and can't find them on Scotlands People.
I'm sure they would have been registered but where?
Any help much appreciated. Thanks.
Morag.

You are absolutely right aghadowey. As showing on the link you have provided, there was no Stillborn register before this date in Scotland (England was slightly earlier, July 1927). As can also be seen from the link you provided, there are strict rules on access to this register which is not available to the general public.

Thanks to you both for your replies. I thought this might be the answer but it was worth asking just in case things had changed.
Appreciate your time. Thanks again.

The only way to find any sort of publicly available record of stillborn children is in the burial records.
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.
