Ruby Day born 1910
« on: Wednesday 15 September 10 18:27 BST (UK) »
Trying to find any info on Ruby Day without buying a copy of her marriage cert.

I know she married Alfred Gynn in 1934 & died 2003 in Cheltenham.
On the death index it states her birth as 1st August 1910.

The only one I can find on freebmd was born in Islington.
Ruby probably also had a sister named Ellen. I don't know if she was older or younger.
I don't believe Ellen ever married.

Ruby doesn't show up on the 1911 census.

Any help appreciated.

Sue

Hello Sue,

May just be an insignificant coincidence, but there is a birth of a (*)Gynn, at Truro, Cornwall in 2002. The combination of (*) must surely be an usual occurence.

Are there any Cornwall connections with the family that you are aware of?

Peter.

There are actually FIVE Ruby DAYs listed on the 1911 census who were born 1910/1911.   Two in Suffolk, two in Essex, and one in Huntingdonshire.

The only way that you are going to figure out which (if any) is the one you're looking for is to purchase the marriage certificate, which will give the names and occupations of the parents (as well as the ages of bride & groom).

Also, it wouldn't be a bad idea to get the death certificate as well - this will give the name of the informant, and from this you should be able to deduce how reliable the recorded DOB is.

I know in these times money is not plentiful, but you can end up wasting a lot of time chasing red herrings if you make educated guesses (I've been there, and got the T-shirt !)  :)

P.S. Peter, a search for Matilda Day b. 1910/1911 on the 1911 census brings up no results.
RIP 1949-10th January 2013

Best Wishes,  Nick.

Yes I agree sometimes a certificate can be invaluable for the info we can get from it, and we can also verify it as proof rather than vague suggestions that we are not 100% sure about. yes it is good money  - but I think it is the right step forward   :)
Brown, Twizell, Storey & fenwick  from Northumberland, Parkinson, from Lincolnshire, Kelly, Kinsella  & Mcguire from Ireland. Mellor originally from Derbyshire, Allens from Norfolk and Jackson originally from Sutton Coldfield.
