A Walter frustration....
« on: Wednesday 15 September 10 21:31 BST (UK) »
Hi Folks,

I'm having an absolute NIGHTMARE - and i mean that - trying to find the correct volume for a birth certificate for my ancestor, Herbert Albert Walter.

I believe, according to a marriage certificate, aged 44 in 1919 - meaning 1875 as birth - With The father as Jesse Walter - At All Souls' In Hampstead for the baptism - on the 20th June 1875.

Problem is, no record, or volume, of his birth, which is...well.....doing my head in.

Do any of you Middlesex researchers have any answer to my prolonged agony on this matter?

Thanks
Rich

Have you looked at the census - according to the 1881, Herbert - son of Jesse was born in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk.

Hoping this link works :

See what you think anyway !  :)

Have to agree, that was the birth that I found too.

Thank goodness it's not just me who was puzzled !  :D

yes, i realised Jesse's name changed to Henry in 1891 - even stranger - he vanished in 1901 entirely.

Oh and for a laugh - check jesse's ages (to henry) through the censuses.....i think he quantum leaped ages as well badly....

In 1881, Jessie Walter was born in 1841, Reading, Berkshire.

In 1891, Henry Walter was born in 1852, Hereford, Herefordshire.

You say you don't have Henry in 1901, do you have a record of Eliza in 1901 ? I would have expected to find an Eliza Walter marrying a Henry Walter, but there doesn't appear to be one ?

Have you checked the 1911 for either of them ?
