Hi Pels

I have, on the offical site.

And been hitting brick walls.

The ONLy shred of evidence i have - and proof - is Herbert's Marriage certificate from October 1919 - saying him as 44 years old - and Jesse, the father, being dead by 1919.

But when - is the biggest mystery. Herbert and Jesse to me seem to be the biggest headache i've had...ever i think ;p

1901 and 1911 show Jesse/henry as nothing....Eliza i can't be certain on anything (except she was born on 02/02/1847).

As far as marriage between Jesse And Eliza there is - on Feb 20th 1874.

That's why this Thingoe connection im iffy with. Herbert being born back in Bury St Edmunds later on in that quarter the same year.....then going back to london again in 1875 for a baptism (almost exactly one year later.)

I can't seem to tie it all together.

Hi Gorton

I think that's the best entry ive seen in the last few days.

Why.

1) ive seen census entries relating to St Johns Wood before, or appear elsewhere relating to these people.

2) Ernest Walter's age matches. he was 1 month old on the 1881 census - whenever it was taken - so could be invaluable, so thanks for that detective work :)

3) jesse was born in 1850 - not 53 - but from 1881/91 censuses he isn't exactly honest when it comes to his age - so take that with a pinch of salt.

ive just been eyeing up that same record at the same time - ironically - im trying to picture the mileage away from it.

She was born in 1847, and even on ancestry - there is no other record remotely close to it.

Unless anything is found and she turns up in 1911, of course!

Just a tie up with gorton.

There is an entry in the death records of a Jesse Walter in 1918 in Paddington - maybe a coincidence?

The only person who appears to be consistently there in 1881/1891 and 1901 is Ernest Walter.

Another question I'm afraid, but who did you try and find in 1871 for the father of Herbert Albert Walter . Did you follow the 1881 details of Jesse or the 1891 description of Henry ?

I can't imagine how Jesse and Henry are even the same man, with the details we have so far ? I think we need to go back to brass tacks with this and make some comparisons.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1891 census:
How do you know Jesse was born in 1850, do you have his birth details ?
We now have approximate years for Jesse's birth in :
1841 - Location, Berks, Reading .. according to the 1881.
1852 - Location, Herefordshire, Hereford .. according to the 1891.
1853 - Location, Not Known, England .. according to the 1901
Sorry to be so full of questions, but without being fully aware of the details you've already found - it makes it hard to break down.
