A Joseph Bailey (b. abt 1824) married Eleanor Davies at St Philip Bethnal Green on 1 Feb 1852.

The problem with this one is that his profession is described as "Horse Keeper".

I've spent about half an hour searching, and they appear in the 1851, 1861, and 1871 censuses, then no trace.

Interestingly, there are several other BAILYs in the London area working as pianoforte manufacturers/tuners at the time.

My guess is either a family feud or problem causing John to lie about his place of birth, and/or an emigration after 1871 to Canada, the USA or Australia.

Best Wishes,  Nick.

Does this help?

Perhaps piano's were a family trade.

Do you know anything of William Henry Douglas, his wife Jane Charlotte Bailey, children Caroline Emma Douglas, Alfred James Douglas, William Alfred Douglas.

You may need to look in the records for non-conformist marriages... there was a Bailey who was a Quaker living in Uxbridge around this time.  This may be why you haven't found her?  There are terrific records of Quaker births, marriages and deaths available, and a Quaker Family History society too.
