wow!
thank you everybody!
The assisted passage is interesting - obviously something was happening money-wise with him if the obit is anything to go by or that newspaper report that Logan found about him allegedly defrauding. I wonder if that followed him around and he couldn't get employment as a consequence?
It certainly fits date wise if he remarried to Sarah (and the poor girl with that accident
).
I had wondered about the child Augusta as I had spotted her randomly but could never fit her in but looking at her death, she is
almost certainly Samuel & Emily's. She certainly fits in that gap between Frederick & Fransisca which bearing mind the multitude of kids people had then, was a little odd unless there had been a death then. Augusta is Samuel's mother's middle name. Emily's family were very fond of triple barrelled christian names as well.
re the baptism Kris found: - I could only ever find the one Samuel J T Thickness being born around 1818-1819 in that area too so I think its definitely him in all the information found. The fact that his father was an RN is good albeit circumstantial evidence that it was him as Emily's family (including in laws to her siblings) were all in the Navy and Captain Whoever...
the John Sievers could well be mine....I'll do a bit more digging, but anything's possible! He just disappears off the planet and going to jail could have been an option for his fate!
thank you for the photos as well JM & the information Judith. I think all in all, until someone says otherwise, its the same family.
I can fill in all the gaps now that you have all found that they hadn't dropped off the earth!!
Thanks again
